NEL-i is launching its call for projects in social and environmental innovation again this year. What is the reason for this? NEL-i is committed to investing 1% of its sales, at least 15% of its net profits and an amount deducted from an internal carbon tax at the rate of $110/t CO2e in social or environmental initiatives.
As part of this commitment, more than $100,000 has been distributed in recent years to organizations in various fields.
For the 2022 call for projects, funding of up to $50,000 may be granted to organizations of all kinds for projects with a strong impact on the environment and communities or for organizations that are working to drastically change current business practices in their sector of activity. We accept applications regardless of the structure of the organization or the stage of development of the project.
By partnering with NEL-i, organizations also benefit from the support of our Project Funding, Climate Leadership, Carbon Markets, and other teams.
Objectives
The objectives of the call for projects are to:
- Promote the emergence and deployment of clean technologies;
- To support the realization of projects contributing to the UN’s sustainable development goals;
- Encourage social innovation and initiatives with a positive impact on the environment and communities.
Eligibility
Priority for financial support will be given to applicants that meet the following characteristics:
- Recipient organizations must be legally incorporated or in the process of being incorporated;
- Preference will be given to organizations that promote inclusion and diversity, those with a corporate structure that promotes equitable distribution of wealth, and those whose governance mechanisms reflect and ensure organizational ethics and respect for shared values.
Project evaluation criteria
- Clarity of the expressed need and expected impact;
- Dedication and dynamism of the team;
- Impact of NEL-i’s support for the project presented.
Projects must be submitted via our online form here, no later than July 26, 2022.
The method of funding or payment will be defined according to the type of organization or project.
